What is the Purpose of an Intervention
Interventions can be necessary when a family member struggling with an alcohol or drug addiction is not willing to admit the dependence has become an issue. An intervention gives family members and friends an opportunity talk with the struggling member in a controlled and safe environment. This situation can be a great place to bring up possible substance abuse addiction treatment options. Be sure to research treatment facilities before the meeting.
At Renaissance Ranch, we help with the following addictions:
- Alcohol addiction
- Cocaine Addiction
- Heroin Addiction
- Hallucinogens Addiction
- Prescription Drug Addiction i.e. opioids
- Hydrocodone Addiction
- Percocet Addiction
Our intervention specialist can help you navigate how to approach these different addictions, working to help your loved one understand their addiction and the need for help.

Meet Our Interventionist
Jon Redd
Jon currently works as the Director of Admissions/Marketing for Renaissance Ranch. He is an alcoholic and drug addict in long term recovery and he is also an alumni of Renaissance Ranch. His ability to empathize with the individual as well as provide support and education to family members has proven to be very effective in interventions. Jon also facilitates the family education groups that are offered through Renaissance Ranch that help family members heal who have been affected by this disease.
He is married and has 4 children from college age to elementary. It took his wife, children, and family members intervening for him to finally seek help with his addiction. He and his wife had their 20 year Wedding Anniversary when he was in residential treatment. His wife has said that this was the best anniversary gift she has ever received.
In 2003, Jon was diagnosed with advanced stage thyroid cancer. As a result of the first surgery he had a severed spinal accessory nerve and he was prescribed opioids for the pain. This led to an opioid addiction which quickly progressed to include alcohol and other mind altering substances.
He has earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Utah. He has a certificate for The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Training Program through the Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Utah. Jon also has earned an MBA from Brigham Young University.
Jon’s approach to interventions is to address the crisis and work with family members to effectively communicate with each other. His belief is that this needs to be done honestly and directly. This is accomplished by developing clear communication that is expressed with love and tolerance for the individual, while setting specific boundaries around the behaviors associated with the disease of alcoholism and/or drug addiction.
